A little about me

Welcome! I’m Lauren Cohen, and I’m so glad you’re here. A bit about me: I’m a Los Angeles native, and a White, cis-gendered (she/her) clinician. I am open about these parts of my identity when we work together—and strive to create a space where all of your parts always feel seen and welcome.

I’ve always been fascinated by emotions, relationships, and behavior. My love for learning about different people has taken me to over 25 countries. Traveling has given me a profound understanding of human nature, “sameness”, and also the vast complexities of different cultures. Outside of sessions, I love yoga, being in nature, a good sunset swim, & trying new foods with my family and friends.

I approach therapy with a dynamic and evolving perspective, tailoring my methods to meet your unique needs.

I view therapy as a collaborative process, where you are the expert of your own life. My role is to empower you to make meaningful changes by listening to your mind, body, and intuition. Through this process, we’ll work together to explore how your inner conflicts and vulnerabilities can lead to greater understanding of who you are.

A little about me

Outside the therapy hour.

Outside of sessions, I love yoga, being in nature, a good sunset swim, & trying new foods with my family and friends.

I meditate—imperfectly, and I think that matters. I wouldn’t ask you to turn toward something uncomfortable that I’m unwilling to turn toward myself.

Boston and Santa Cruz both shaped me, and Los Angeles is home. Those places show up in how I work: New England directness, West Coast patience.

I’m queer-affirming, and I care about therapy being a place where identity is met with curiosity rather than caution.

I work with people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and backgrounds, and I aim to create a space where you can bring your full self without having to explain, minimize, or defend who you are.
